November 12, 2019 – RIT To Pottsville City With Mayday

November 12, 2019 – At 20:21 hrs the Schuylkill Haven Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) was dispatched to 625 Pierce Street, City of Pottsville, for a structure fire. Squad 63-64 immediately responded with 6 firefighters. As the Squad approached the City of Pottsville, command transmitted a mayday for firefighters caught in a flash-over. After arriving on scene, RIT crews rapidly gathered equipment and met command on the A-Side of the structures. At that time, it was determined all firefighters were accounted for and made it from the building safely.

Fire personnel from Station 2 and 4 continued throwing ladders and establishing multiple points of egress for crews operating inside. Deputy 63 (Reed) had command of the RIT Team and Squad 63-64 and Engine 63-12 remained on scene for approximately 2.5 hours.
