10388182_10203976082469789_415482684519414057_nDuring the past two weeks, the Liberty Fire Co. #4 held its first annual children’s Embers Training Camp. Participants ages 4-14 learned about the fire service, firefighting equipment, and participated in numerous firefighting training activities.

A few of the many activities included a tour of all 3 Schuylkill Haven Fire Department Stations, a smoke filled maze, a firefighter obstacle course, emergency services night, and a “mini” hose and barrel competition.

Emergency services night was held this past Wednesday. Cadet participants were able to learn about and explore numerous emergency vehicles including 2 ambulances, a police car, fire apparatus from Stations 1 & 2, and Lehigh Valley Medevac 7.

Thursday night wrapped up the program with a “mini” hose and barrel competition along with the graduation ceremony. At the conclusion of the graduation ceremony, a special presentation of turn-out gear was presented to Jake Sweigert, the son of Assistant Chief Keith Sweigert. Jake will be joining the company this September as a Junior member. Congratulations to Jake!

Approximately 25 kids participated in the camp. The entire company would like to congratulate all of the participants on a job well done!

The Liberty Fire Company would like to thank members from Stations 1 & 2, Pottsville Schuylkill EMS, the Schuylkill Haven Police Department, and Lehigh Valley Medevac for their participation in Emergency Services Night.

Finally, the Liberty Fire Company would like to thank Aimee Peel and all members of the company who helped organize and facilitate the event. Without the dedicated members of our company the success of this camp would not be possible. We hope to see everyone next year!
