July 15, 2015 – Liberty to Host Fire Dynamics Class

The course provides the firefighter the basic knowledge to reinforce the evidence based research conducted by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and other fire service organizations. This course introduces new terminology related to fire dynamics, legacy verse modern fuel loads, new construction techniques, flow paths, door control, and ventilation that all impact fire ground operations.

The class will be held August 24, 2015 at Liberty Hose Company, Schuylkill Haven.

Class start time is 1830 to 2130.

May 30, 2015 – 3rd Annual Barbeque Bash A Huge Success

The Liberty Fire Company would like to thank everyone for making our barbeque bash, poker run, hose and barrel, and various challenges a huge success! We look forward to seeing you next year! Special thanks goes to the Friedensburg Fire Company for helping us set up the hose and barrel.

 

 

May 11, 2015 – Liberty Takes Delivery of New Squad 63-69

May 11, 2015 – The Liberty Fire Company #4, took delivery of a used Pierce Arrow Pumper on May 11th. The Pumper was purchased from Goodwill Hose Co. Cressona and will be used to replace the current Squad (1994 MedTec Ambulance). The new Squad will respond to emergencies such as vehicle accidents, structure fires, medical assists, public service calls, and Rapid Intervention Team incidents.

We will keep you updated on the progress of the new Squad 63-69.

 

 

April 24, 2015 – Liberty Fire Company Awarded 2014 AFG Grant

static1.squarespace.comApril 24, 2015 – The Liberty Fire Company #4, has been awarded the 2014 AFG (Assistance to Firefighters) Federal grant from FEMA. The award amount is $38,572.00 which will be used for new turn-out gear, helmets and boots. The Liberty Fire Company would like to thank FEMA and the grants program for this generous award that will help keep our firefighters safe.

Liberty Welcomes Kendall Rose To The Family

Mom, Dad and Kendall are all doing well! We wish you all nothing but the best!

Liberty Fire Company Awarded DCNR Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant

The Liberty Fire Co. #4 has been awarded the DCNR Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant for the year 2014.

Grants can be used for the purchase of wildfire suppression equipment, wildfire protective gear, mobile or portable radios, installation of dry hydrants, wildfire prevention and mitigation, or wildfire training.

The funds received will be used to equip Tanker 738 with an additional 400′ of 1-inch forestry fire attack hose, 3 additional Indian Vest Tanks, and two forestry nozzles. The equipment will greatly improve our ability to fight forestry and brush fires. The Liberty Fire Co. would like to thank DCNR for awarding us this grant.

August 23, 2014 – SHFD Wins Numerous Awards at Schuylkill County Convention

August 23, 2014 – The Schuylkill Haven Fire Department traveled to Pottsville for the annual Schuylkill County Firefighters Convention hosted by the Pottsville Fire Department.

  • The Rainbow Hose Fire Company #1 received a Second Place for Ladder 725 and their Light Rescue 726.
  • The Schuylkill Hose received a First Place for their Rescue/Engine 733 and the Dive Unit.
  • The Liberty Fire Company brought home a First Place trophy for Tanker 738 and a Second Place for  Squad 739.

The Department Marching unit received a 3rd Place, and Schuylkill Haven Fire Department received the Best Overall Department.

We would Like to congratulate the Pottsville Fire Department one a successful convention! Also congratulations to the Paxtang Fire Company #1, Good Will Fire Company(Cressona) and the Cressona #1 Fire Company on their awards. IMG_0425

Liberty Fire Co. #4 Hosts First Annual Embers Training Camp

10388182_10203976082469789_415482684519414057_nDuring the past two weeks, the Liberty Fire Co. #4 held its first annual children’s Embers Training Camp. Participants ages 4-14 learned about the fire service, firefighting equipment, and participated in numerous firefighting training activities.

A few of the many activities included a tour of all 3 Schuylkill Haven Fire Department Stations, a smoke filled maze, a firefighter obstacle course, emergency services night, and a “mini” hose and barrel competition.

Emergency services night was held this past Wednesday. Cadet participants were able to learn about and explore numerous emergency vehicles including 2 ambulances, a police car, fire apparatus from Stations 1 & 2, and Lehigh Valley Medevac 7.

Thursday night wrapped up the program with a “mini” hose and barrel competition along with the graduation ceremony. At the conclusion of the graduation ceremony, a special presentation of turn-out gear was presented to Jake Sweigert, the son of Assistant Chief Keith Sweigert. Jake will be joining the company this September as a Junior member. Congratulations to Jake!

Approximately 25 kids participated in the camp. The entire company would like to congratulate all of the participants on a job well done!

The Liberty Fire Company would like to thank members from Stations 1 & 2, Pottsville Schuylkill EMS, the Schuylkill Haven Police Department, and Lehigh Valley Medevac for their participation in Emergency Services Night.

Finally, the Liberty Fire Company would like to thank Aimee Peel and all members of the company who helped organize and facilitate the event. Without the dedicated members of our company the success of this camp would not be possible. We hope to see everyone next year!

2nd Annual Barbeque Bash May 31st!

Poker Run: Festivities kick off with a Poker Run. Registration is at 12 p.m. High and low hands win. $20 per person, includes t-shirt. Carloads welcome to join!

Firetruck Parade: A fire truck noise parade will be held at 5:30 p.m., with special awards being handed out at 8 p.m. Categories coming soon!

Food & Beverages: Pig roast, hamburgers, hot dogs, fresh cut French fries and beer & soda/tea will be served all day. Must be 21 to drink alcohol. Proof of age is a must! Music by DJ Inspekta.

Prizes: Chinese Auction and 50/50 tickets will be sold all day, with the winners being drawn at approx. 8 p.m. Stop by to win a 50” Flat Screen TV, baseball tickets, lottery tickets and lots of other great items! You do not need to be present to win.

March 19, 2014 – Liberty Fire Company Recieves AED Grant

Foundation Logo-VectorCMYKMarch 19, 2014 – Today, the Liberty Fire Company received official notification from the Fire House Subs Public Safety Foundation that a grant was being issued to our company for the purchase of an AED First Responder Package. All Officers and Members would like to thank Fire House Subs for their generous award as an AED will be an invaluable piece of equipment used to save lives in our community or possibly the lives of our own firefighters.

Station 4 Training News – Congratulations To All!

Members from the Liberty included; Nick “Jake” Semanco, Greg Semanco, and Dani “Daisy” Snyder.

Also, Congratulations to Aimee Peel and Chief Dennis Snyder for successfully completing Instructor I at HACC this past month.
