July 24, 2011 – At 18:36 the SHFD Rapid Intervention Team was dispatched to I-78 MM 20, Upper Tulpehocken Township, Berks County for a possible structure fire. Before any SHFD units began to respond, Berks command arrived on scene and found a controlled burn and SCCC placed all units available.
July 23, 2011 – AFA Tumbling Run Road (North Manheim)
July 23, 2011 – At 16:15 the SHFD was dispatched to 16 Tumbling Run Road (the water treatment plant) for an automatic fire alarm. Units quickly arrived on scene and found a faulty detector located in the garage area. All units were placed available by Chief 720 (Peel).
July 22, 2011 – SHFD Dive Team To Blue Marsh
July 22, 2011 – At 14:47 Station 2 was dispatched for the dive team and boats to respond to Church Road and Route 183 Penn Township for a Water Rescue/Recovery. Crews arrived on scene and placed 2 divers into the water and located the victim by using a jack stay pattern within 20 minutes. Station 4 also responded with Squad 739 on the call to assist Station 2 with manpower. All SHFD units were on scene for approximately 3 hours. Photos over at Schuylkillhose.com.
July 19, 2011 – R.I.T. To Strausstown For Structure Fire
July 19, 2011 – At 16:16 The Schuylkill Haven Rapid Intervention Team (R.I.T.) was dispatched to 24 Walnut Street, Strausstown Borough for a structure fire. SCCC advised Chief 722 (Sattizahn) of a working shed fire with extension into a wooded area. The R.I.T. however was cancelled en-route. All units were placed available by SCCC. E-733 and Squad 739 were on the call.
July 18, 2011 – Brush Fire (Otto’s Amusements)
July 18, 2011 – At 18:25 Stations 2 & 4 were dispatched to the area of 440 Route 61 South (Otto’s Amusements) for a brush fire. Crews arrived on scene and found a small brush/garbage fire. Station 2 used a trash line from E-732 to extinguish the fire. All units were placed available by Chief 722.
July 16, 2011 – MVA w/Entrapment (Long Run Road)
July 16, 2011 – At 00:40 the SHFD was dispatched to the area of 2012 Long Run Road for a vehicle accident with entrapment. Crews arrived on scene and were met with a single car which had sheared off a utility pole and struck a tree. Station 4 used an extinguisher to extinguish a small fire caused by the falling wires and transformer and Stations 1 and 2 assisted EMS with patient removal from the vehicle. All SHFD units remained on scene until the tow company arrived. Chief 730 (Reed) had command.
July 14, 2011 – Electrical Fire Inside Residence (Hess Street)
July 14, 2011 – At 19:27 the SHFD was dispatched to 436 Hess Street in the borough for a possible electrical fire inside a residence. Crews quickly arrived on scene and used a TIC (Thermal Imagery Camera) to check the residence. Fire personnel found nothing out of the ordinary and Chief 720 placed all units available.
July 13, 2011 – AFA Pottsville Surgery Center
July 13, 2011 – At 09: 01 the SHFD was dispatched to 1540 Route 61 South, the Pottsville Surgery Center, for an automatic fire alarm. Just as units began to respond SCCC advised of a false activation and all units were placed available.
July 8, 2011- Smoke Detector Activation
July 8, 2011- At 18:24 the SHFD was dispatched to 52 Blossom Lane for a smoke detector activation. Crews arrived on scene and found a faulty detector and all units were placed available.
